Rumble on the Turnpike

Image
Ever since I moved away from Meriden I wondered if I'd miss the late night rolls on the Berlin Turnpike, hearing the roar of 500 plus horsepower engines in the distance... stopping for ice cream at a Burger King and getting a full blown car show at 6, 7, 8 or 9 o'clock at night.         Well here's proof that I do miss it. I just happened to be in the "neighborhood" this weekend and decided to see if there was any action on the strip... and there was. I don't think I've ever seen this spot this packed. What I like is that it's consistent.. and doesn't seem planned. The cars come and go.

Kim's Graduation Day

Image
A big Congratulations to my Sister-in-Law Kim for graduating from Strayer University. You are very deserving...  I know a lot of hard work, sacrifice and pray went in to it. Know that your family loves and supports you in all of your endeavors.    It was held at the Time Warner Arena in Raleigh, NC.   (that's where the bobcats play.) It was a beautiful hot summer day, a beautiful ceremony. A couple rain showers couldn't even keep us from making this event.  The speaches were short and sweet. There were tears, laughs.. and then there was Mustafa's voice.  Maybe he'll say your name for your Graduates degree... or maybe he'll going into voice-over work like the homeless guy from Ohio.

Vacation Day 2 & 3

Image
Once we were rested from the ride... Ethan couldn't wait to get back to work.     And he got to work on the lawn... learning how to mow the lawn. He also got to meet the neighbor's bunny rabbit. It's not like me to cut people's heads off and get folks with their eyes closed.. Sorry i was in a rush.

Vacation Day 2: Meet Pedro

Image
Vacation day 2: After walking around Washington D.C. all day we had to stop at a hotel, then in the morning it was off for South Carolina to visit mom. Anyone who has driven from South Carolina to North Carolina knows that you have to stop at South of the Border. The place has both grown and shrunk since I've been a kid. I only remember the fireworks and rest stop area. But if you go too far down the road, you can see all the glory of what used to be South of the Border. -- You have to get a picture with Pedro, right?
