Road Trip to Connecticut and back

Image
Road trips are fun, educational,  0-0---   but they can also be stressful and expensive. Phillip-Morris World Headquarters I think this was Richmond, VA Selfie after a nap Rolling through the Harbor Tunnel in Baltimore, Maryland Downtown Meriden, CT Hubbard Park, Meriden The view of Castle Craig at Hubbard Park in Meriden. We didn't have all  the time in the world to  drive to the top (it's a 15 20 minute drive) Stopped to take some pictures at the Connecticut State Capitol building between the commencement ceremony and the dinner party.   I used to go through this tunnel just at least once a week. Now, until this trip, .. I haven't been through a tunnel in almost two years.  This is the Tapanzee Bridge. We went this way because the G.W. Bridge has two tolls withing miles of each other $13.80 each

Trains are Better than Buses and Planes, Maybe

Image
Okay so you can tell from the title of this post what I'm talking about. Anyone who has ever complained about traveling by airplane with kids, not having enough leg room, snacks, drinks, or TSA checkpoints hasn't had to travel by bus in the last decade.... I promise you!      Recently, I took a bus from Raleigh to New York City where I boarded a taxi to the train station and on to New Haven. It was a long 10 hours. I don't know how some people do that on a regular basis. I think I need like a 2 to three month window between bus trips... if it's even necessary.       Bus trips compared to plane trips.... Let's see what's a good comparison. How about McDonald's and Five Guys or Honda and Harley (sorry I know nothing about bikes.)  I have nothing against bus companies. They do a fine job at what they do. So, I won't name any company names in this post. I'm not even mad at any particular portion of the trip. Sure th...

Saying So-long to News8, It's be a long seven years (tear)

Image
So, today I began to close a chapter of my life and move into another. I'm no longer a producer at WTNH News8 because the family and I are moving from Connecticut to North Carolina. Like most people my age, I've had a lot of jobs with the ambitious goal of moving up the ladder -- better pay, better jobs. Channel 8, as it used to be called is the only place of employment that I turned into a career.. .sticking and staying for a long time. Seven years is a long time no matter how you look at it. Yes, others have survived for longer.. but I feel like this is a big deal for my generation. Anyway, 7 years is more than a quarter of my life.... it's about the same amount of time I spent in Tallahassee, FL before leaving. Here's what I had to say to my co-workers on the way out the door. It is with a heavy heart that I walk off of the News 8 team at the end of the day today. I have been a part of the News 8 team for the past 7 years. First I started out as t...
