Pick Your Own and Having Fun

I always love impromptu trips to Lyman's Orchard in Middlefield, CT. truth be told I love doing anything Impromptu since my day job requires so much precision planning. One my weekends (when I'm not working) I like to fly by the seat of my pants.

This happened to be a Sunday afternoon. Yes, I still had my church shoes on. Thank God my wife brought some comfy shoes with her. Whenever I go to an Orchard for one of their pick your own events, I'm always amazed at the sweet smell of fruit, the amount of food on the trees and the amount of food on the ground. this particular spot was in the Japanese pear section.
I don't know if it was a bad crop or what, but there was nothing but fruit underneath these trees. The peach trees, on the other hand, had no fruit under them. They had been picked so clean that I had to hike about 50 yards in before I found a tree with fruit on it.. and there were barely any fallen peaches under the trees.
By the way, I don't recommend eating anything that has fallen on the ground at an orchard. I do recommend eating an apple right off the tree. I don't even think they consider it stealing because so many people do it. So, go have fun even if you still have your church shoes on.
